Values For Civil Servants were underlined by the president in her recent address to the officer trainees. Anonymity.

Ability.

Austerity.

Advised them to be sensitive towards the underprivileged act of society. She emphasized the main mantra of the foundation course public interest before self-interest.

She said – “As the public is a tool for social justice, public servants are the agents of social change. They have chosen public service as their career. Therefore always remember that they are here to serve the nation,”. The governance system has huge confidence in its capability to implement policies of national significance and thereby shape the future. ” They should align their goals and aims with the broader of the nation.” Innovation. The president said this is the era of technology and their scope of innovation in the field of administration.

Addressing the officer trainees of the Indian Revenue Service, the president said they must remember that their twin role is to facilitate the compliance of tax laws by taxpayers and also contribute to overall credible deterrence against tax evasion. She remembered the words of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who in April 1947, while meeting a batch of IAS trainees, had said ” we must expect and we have a right to expect the best out of every civil servant in whatever position of responsibility he or she may be”, she said. ” Today we can proudly say that the civil servants have lived up to this expectation.”
